Subject: New Release of the k-Wave Acoustics Toolbox
We are pleased to announce the latest release of the k-Wave acoustics
toolbox. This includes the first release of an optimised C++ code for
nonlinear ultrasound simulations in 3D. All codes are licensed under
the LGPL and are available from http://www.k-wave.org.
The numerical model is based on the solution of three coupled
first-order partial differential equations that account for
nonlinearity, heterogeneities in the material parameters, and acoustic
absorption following a frequency power law (1D, 2D, and 3D). The
equations are solved using a k-space pseudospectral method, where
spatial gradients are calculated using a Fourier collocation scheme on
a staggered grid, and temporal gradients are calculated using a
k-space corrected finite-difference scheme.
