cuTENSOR is a new library containing highly optimized tensor
primitives for NVIDIA GPUs. It provides a set of simple, flexible APIs
for elementwise tensor operations and tensor contractions. cuTENSOR's
expressive API allows for elementwise operation fusion and exposes
several tensor contraction algorithms. cuTENSOR is now available in an
apply-for-access pre-release at developer.nvidia.com/cutensor. Apply

Hereby, I would like to kindly invite you to participate in the
summer school on phase field modeling at Hasselt University,
Belgium, from June 24-26, 2019.
The goal of this summer school is to give the participants a basic
introduction to the analysis and the numerics of phase fields. The
focus will be on introducing the phase field concept including some
physical applications, show how the phase field equation relate to
other moving-boundary models, and numerical implementation. The summer
school will therefore be amenable to mathematicians, engineers and
scientists and will be presented in a genuine interdisciplinary
context. The summer school will be open to participants having a basic
knowledge in calculus and partial differential equations as they are
taught to engineers and scientists. All sessions will be hands-on,
meaning that sufficient time for exercises and their discussion is
planned.
The lectures will be given by Jun.-Prof. Dr. Carina Bringedal
(Universitat Stuttgart), Prof. Dr. Harald Garcke (Universitat
Regensburg), Prof. Dr. Christian Rohde (Universitat Stuttgart) and

Nonlinearity plays an important role in many fields of Science,
Engineering and Technology. The aim of this conference is to bring
together researchers working on aspects of nonlinear phenomena and to
encourage interaction between experts from different areas such as
Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Analysis, Fluid Dynamics,
Engineering and Physics. Recent theoretical developments, new
computational methods and experimental findings will be presented and
discussed. We plan to avoid parallel sessions and foster as much as
possible communication across the different communities. This
Conference has been organised in cooperation with the Society for
Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and Northumbria University.

held at the upcoming U.S. National Congress on Computational
Mechanics. The short course will cover both the fundamentals of

Description: Peridynamics is a nonlocal reformulation of classical
continuum mechanics, based on integral equations, suitable for
material failure and damage simulation. In contrast to classical
constitutive relations, peridynamic models do not require spatial
differentiability assumptions of displacement fields, leading to a
natural representation of material discontinuities such as
cracks. Furthermore, peridynamic models possess length scales, making
them suitable for multiscale modeling. This course will provide an
overview of peridynamics, including its mathematical, computational,
and modeling aspects. The course will also review advanced research
topics and software in peridynamics, and it will include a hands-on
tutorial on 3D simulation of solid mechanics problems.

conference, HiPC workshops will typically be half-day events although

National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) invites
applications for two-year NRC postdoctoral research positions at NIST
Laboratories in Gaithersburg, Maryland and Boulder, Colorado. NIST is
a Federal government research laboratory specializing in measurement
science. ACMD consists of some 46 full-time professional staff, along
with part-time faculty appointees and guest researchers. Staff members
engage in collaborative research with scientists throughout NIST,
providing expertise in applied mathematics, mathematical modeling, and
computational science and engineering. Research areas of interest
include complex systems and networks, computational materials science,
computational fluid dynamics,computational electromagnetics,
computational biology, orthogonal polynomials and special functions,
applied optimization and simulation, combinatorial software testing,
data mining and visualization, parallel and distributed algorithms,
quantum information science, and uncertainty quantification in

advance the state of the art of abstraction-based synthesis and

candidate, the research focus will be either on algorithms and
software development, or on theoretical foundations.
Required qualifications:
- MSc degree (or equivalent, giving access to doctoral studies) in

- Strong theoretical or mathematical background, and a strong interest
in dynamical or control systems.
- Programming skills.

past exposure to and strong interest in professional-grade software
development, while for a focus on theoretical foundations a strong
mathematical or theoretical background is needed. Experience in one of
the following fields would be a plus but is not necessarily required:
Set-valued or validated numerics; dynamic programming; formal methods
in control; reactive synthesis; information-based complexity / optimal
recovery. The position is full-time and paid according to pay scale
``TVOeD Bund, E 13''. Initial appointment is for two years, with

We have two PhD positions available under a collaborative project
between the Department of Mathematics and the Department of
Meteorology (MISU), Stockholm University. Sweden. The project aims at
developing an idealized coupled Finite Element Model framework for
studying processes involved in ice sheet-ocean interactions. The Math
PhD student will develop the FEM-methods for the coupling, and the
MISU PhD will study the impact of numerical solutions on the model
representation of physical processes and will investigate ocean
circulation under different configurations. The real-life context if
the 79N-Glacier, Greenland, and the project is woven into several
international collaborations.
